Experience

These roles explore my professional experience.  Each role is tied to the others and have afforded me the opportunity to grow in my profession.  The authenticity I approach each role with is a reflection of the authenticity I bring to sessions and the acceptance I have for you as an individual.

Psychotherapist

I began practicing in 2009 at a residential substance abuse facility. Since, I have worked with many individuals and groups experiencing a variety of mental health concerns including significant, acute, chronic, and situational issues. Some symptoms these folks have had include anxiousness, sadness, depersonalization, trauma, stress, and substance use, as well as interpersonal struggles, difficulty coping, and grief.

Professor

When beginning  my doctorate in 2012, I began teaching undergraduate courses at state universities..  These courses focused on human relationships.  Shortly after, I took on graduate level courses at different state and private universities, with an emphasis in counselor education.  I greatly enjoy teaching counseling skills to graduate students. Although it is not my primary passion,  I  continue to teach graduate courses on occasion.

Instructor

Related to teaching, instructing or leading a presentation on mental health issues, counseling techniques, graduate education, and supervision of mental health students and professionals is one way I have dedicated my time.  I have presented at several national conferences on these various topics.  I find connecting with other mental health professionals to be rewarding, enlightening, and insightful.  It helps us all be better therapists.

Supervisor

In the State of Florida I am a Qualified Supervisor, which means I supervise registered state interns who are working on their hours for licensure. I am responsible for ensuring the growth of the intern, as well as their clients' safety.  I also supervise graduate student interns in a similar capacity.

Currently, I am the clinical program supervisor for a program established and supported by the Tenth Judicial Circuit Public Defender Office. Supervising others helps me growth as a person, professional, and therapist.
